Tottenham went away on a hiding to nothing, if they lost to Burnley it was all ‘Spursy’ and if they beat Burnley then it was ‘Lads it’s only Burnley’.
The fact is that Tottenham needed to Win that game to pull away from the relegation battle that is ensuing. The Frank Engine needed that win to resuscitate his Tottenham tenure for at least one more week. The draw did just one thing, tempered the boos slightly.
For 90 minutes Spurs’ attacking players were inept in front of goal. This Tottenham side should have been well out of sight in this match and the goal difference should have received a nice boost. Instead Spurs wasted chance after chance. In fact Tottenham should have scored as early as the 19th second.
I think this wastefulness in front of goal is costing Spurs the breathing room to be able to play and relax a bit in football matches. Instead of relaxing, each and every pass seems to be fraught with jeopardy as you never know whether it will go to feet or the advertising hoardings. The players are on edge, the fans are on edge and The Frank Engine keeps banging on about staying calm whilst ensuring that Wrigleys share price is rocketing through the roof.
What’s the solution to this problem then? The solution to this problem should have happened a long while ago when Tottenham should have been adjusting their wage budget accordingly to bring in Top European stars to fill to bolster the squad whilst spurs were still a Champions League regular every season. Instead the ownership decided to line their own pockets and milk the Tottenham cash cow for all its worth.
This cash cow is sick (negative) at the moment and it’s clear to see the fans who contribute to the income of the cash cow every home game have had enough of what is being served up. This is evident when you get emails offering guest sale on home matches every month of this season. What used to be a rare occurrence is now a regular occurrence. Tottenham cannot sell out the ground. Maybe fans are finally voting with their feet as they see what is unfolding in front of them is the slow murder of the club they love. The fans are being boiled slowly.
This will be two seasons in a row where the ‘Top 6 Powerhouse’ Tottenham Hotspur will be involved or close to a relegation battle and all the owners can do is watch as the bin fire rages.
All the appointed transfer gurus can do is TRY and sign players like Robertson. The “We Tried Award” is being handed out at every single transfer window and it’s getting even more embarrassing every time.
This football club is supposedly one of the top ten richest football clubs IN THE WORLD…
Flex the financial muscles now or in two years time this once great club will be stuck in the Championship and will struggle every season to get out of that trap door of a league.
