The fifth Premier League game of the season and Tottenham found themselves 2-0 down and went onto grasp a draw with a Richy goal and an O.G.
On the face of it you’d think, “wow! Spurs were lucky”
In fact I think that maybe Spurs were unlucky not to take all 3 points.
The main worry for me is probably the fact that Tottenham are not quite clinical enough right now and conversely Brighton were clinical enough to score 2 goals without actually creating that much across the game.
What did encourage me was that Simons managed to come and play in the creative role that Spurs have desperately needed and basically dictated the game for the 30 or so minutes he was on the pitch. Surely that has to be his position going forward into the rest of the season?
Another positive is how Kudus is getting better with each match he plays for Spurs. The Premier League website gave Kudus man of the match as he continues to be strong and skilful on that Right Hand side of the pitch. Anyone who comes up against him at the moment is guaranteed a physical test and a skills test in order to compete his power and ability.
“Kudus was probably our man of the match. He was so dangerous. He owned that right hand side.”
Thomas Frank
The negatives will probably have to come down to the nature of the two goals conceded as they were both avoidable. The first one Tottenham got caught out with a counter attack that exposed the defence and the second one looked saveable from Vicario’s point of view but he seemed to get wrong footed slightly by the ferocious shot on the angle of the box.
Overall though it is one point at a place that is tough to go to and it keeps the momentum of points in the league up. It also goes to show how tough every single game in the premier League is. No game is a given so Tottenham will need to up their game at Home to Wolves in the next Premier League match as Wolves will be DESPERATE for points after a disastrous start to the season for them. Hopefully Spurs can put to bed the spectre of the home game against Bournemouth where the Lilywhites basically failed to get off the coach let alone onto the pitch.
Five games in and so far so good from Thomas The Tank’s Boys.
I still feel like Spurs are one injury away from crisis but the rotation is being employed well by Frank to hopefully spread the load across the squad.
Donny Rovers in midweek should hopefully give some of the boys a chance to play who have had zero minutes this season and give the lads who have played most of the games so far this season a rest , but as we all know, football is never that simple. A half empty stadium with a revved up Doncaster side might be a stern test for players with minimal minutes, we shall see shan’t we.

“Our start to the game was fantastic... we are coming away from home against a very good team and we are completely dominating it. The mentality to stay in the game, to keep going, to keep pushing and come back and get a well deserved 2-2—I was so impressed with that.”
